Public art for Botley

Body

Work in progress, commissioned by North Hinksey Parish council. Developing proposals and public engagement for public art alongside the Botley flyover, using Jan Gehl's concept of 60km/hr architecture to explore the impact of this vast structure on the pedestrian route underneath. In a public workshop, the flyover wall was reproduced at scale and verses of Matthew Arnold's romantic local poetry rendered in hand-drawn, motorway scale typography in the style of highway line-painters. The letterforms developed will be used in future designs.
